Endurance is sold by KKR for $1 billion

Endurance is sold

You know the name EIG (endurance International Group) right? Now we need to refresh our memories as it's already sold to a private equity firms Warburg Pincus and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners! If you're already EIG customer, I would like to introduce more about their latest business actions. If you're new, make sure to read over this article and make right choice in selecting web hosting providers.

Endurance miracle history

We wrote a general review about endurance from this EIG hosting article long time ago. However, it's obviously not enough for us to learn about this company well. Here I would like to introduce two of the big cases in EIG business history.

When time got to year 2008, the endurance group already managed over 600,000 global hosting accounts by acquiring existing names. At this very time, another business negociation was being launched between EIG and Accel-KKR and finally they got agreetment on October 17, 2008 to sell EIG with unpublished amount dollars.

The Accel-KKR is a technology-focused private equity firm with over $1.3 billion in assets under management. Just some time ago, their team and silver lake purchased godaddy hosting which is almost an earth quake to many people. On November 8, 2011, Warburg Pincus and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners announced they will purchase EIG from KKR with around $1 billion

As we see, although the EIG team has been acquiring other companies with no stop, they also like to sell out their business if it's a good deal. However, whatever changes with EIG group, they will continue to purchase other hosting brands if it's possible.

Popular brands under endurance

The Endurance never publicized the brands they're operating but still kept the old names and no referring to EIG stuff. However, people still found a good list of their existing web hosting sites. Just check below and see if you're paying one of them

Bluehost. Hostmonster. Spry. VPSLink. Netfirms. JustHost. SuperGreenHosting. Host Clear. EasyCGI. YourWebHosting. AccountSupport. BizLand. BlueDomino. DomainHost. Dot5Hosting. eHost. EntryHost. FatCow. FreeYellow. HostCentric. HostYourSite. iPage. HyperMart. IMOutdoorsHosting. Ipower. IPowerWeb. Networkshosting. PowWeb. PureHost. ReadyHosting. StartLogic. USANetHosting. VirtualAvenue. Webstrikesolutions. Xeran. Globat. ApolloHosting. WebHost4Life

Of course, there're more names which are not included in the list because it's always increasing day by day and hard to track out them all. By operating the existing business brands, EIG serves more than 1.9 million customers with over 7.7 million domains and delivers more than 5 million applications on the globe.

How do we think about this business news?

Why the investors are interested in buying EIG? Jim Neary, managing director at Warburg Pincus said this in press release "We are excited about partnering with the Endurance management team as the Company continues its impressive growth trajectory."

It's big business in web hosting industry and such purchasing & selling will be more and more common because as long as you can pay that amount, it's still good deal to every business operators. It's hard to find a hosting company who can keep their true brand over 10 years. However we still wish to see someone who can keep the business growth as well as their brands.
